Electrical

About

Electrical Team takes the robot frame assembled by Mechanical Assembly and wires it up, bringing the robot to life for FIRST competition. Electrical also does general work on the systems, including salvaging old bots for parts and modernizing older parts with newer technology and safety measures.

Presentation

This presentation is given to new HOT Team members upon joining the Electrical team. It details how the Electrical team functions and the work that they do on the robot. It explains the purpose and work of the Electrical team.

Resources

FIRST has several resources dedicated to electrical systems and the like:

Subteams

The Electrical team is “split” into three subteams, each working on different parts of the robot’s wiring.

Core Electrical

The first and largest team is Core Electrical, which is tasked with wiring. mounting components, and CAD work. In addition, Core Electrical often provides benches (table stacked with testing equipment) and testers for fine-tuning the robot without the field. In addition, Core may loan labor to the Assembly team in times of need.

CID

The second team is known as Control Interface and Documentation, or CID. CID tends to do more in the testing business, with a task list of flashing components, labeling, and documenting Assembly and CAD. In addition, CID may loan labor to the Programming team, in the same fashion that Core loans to Build.

Pneumatics

The third Electrical team, the newest of the three, is Pneumatics. Pneumatics, up to a few years ago, was ran under Assembly. However, recent developments have moved Pneumatics to be under the umbrella of Electrical. Pneumatics, as the name implies, works on pneumatic systems by placing pneumatic motors and plumbing them together. In addition, like Core Electerical, Pneumatics will often loan labor to their former team (Assembly) in times of need.
